Planet Wheeler Foundation

The Planet Wheeler Foundation, a private ancillary fund, was established in 2008 by Maureen and Tony Wheeler, founders of Lonely Planet Publications.

Planet Wheeler is based in Melbourne, Australia and currently funds over 50 projects in the developing world. Most of our funding - approximately 80% in fact - goes to a few African countries, Afghanistan, Burma and Burma related projects, Cambodia and Laos. We have flexibility to look at other areas, but Trustees prefer a focus on the places mentioned.

Our purpose, put simply, is to support practical and effective projects which make a difference in the alleviation of poverty.

We link with people who are creating change in their communities. Our projects range from building schools to providing support to people living with disability and to refugees.
